Patrick E. “Pat” Nash, 63, departed this life on January 20th, 2019, at home, surrounded by family, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Pat was born March 31, 1955, in Kansas City, MO, to Melvin and Mary Ann Nash. Pat graduated from Bishop Hogan High School and attended college on a baseball pitching scholarship at Rockhurst College and was an avid bowler, almost turning professional. Pat eventually chose to enter the restaurant business and spent many years with Sonic as an owner/operator. He opened and ran the first five Sonics in Springfield, MO, as well as many other locations around the country. While with Sonic, he received numerous awards which allowed him to travel to many places around the world. He developed a love for travel that stayed with him throughout his life. He was a member of Unity of Springfield where he served on the board and as a Prayer Chaplain.
Pat loved most anything sports related. He rarely missed a Notre Dame football or a KU basketball game, was a lifelong Kansas City Chief’s and Royals SUPER fan (understatement) and spent many hours watching and talking about the games. He was also a fantastic cook and could clean the hell out of a bathroom!
Pat loved his family fiercely and was one of nine siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joe, Jim, and Mike Nash; and sister Carol Mendenhall. He is survived by brothers John and Tom Nash; and sisters Mary Beth Nash Kramer and Cathy Nash Petersen; and sisters-in-law Kay Nash and Phyllis Nash.
What Pat loved most and the source of his greatest pride was his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Kacey; and survived by a son, Joe Nash, Kansas City; granddaughter, Skylar; daughter Meghan O’Connor and husband Jim, Kansas City; grandsons Stephen and Brendan; daughters Lindsey Nash, Burnet, TX, Elizabeth Nash, Burnet, TX; stepson Matt Lippelman and wife Vanessa, Springfield; stepdaughter Marissa Lippelman, Springfield; and stepson Joshua Lippelman, Springfield. He would be the first to admit that he was not a perfect father or stepfather, but no one could have loved their children more than he did.
Pat is also survived by his wife, Kimberley Lippelman-Nash. Though he had been divorced several times before, he never gave up on love or finding his soul mate. With Kimberley, he knew he was loved unconditionally, in spite of his imperfections and he lived his final days with the knowledge that he was adored by his wife. Pat and Kimberley only had 13 years together, but those were filled with love, laughter, passion, and happiness. No matter what challenges they faced, they created a beautiful life together.
Pat had a generous heart, always had a huge smile and leaves behind many friends and colleagues as well. He will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Unity of Springfield, 2214 E. Seminole St., Springfield, MO, 65804. A Celebration of Life service is also scheduled for Friday, January 25th, at 2:00 p.m. also at Unity of Springfield. Arrangements are by Greenlawn Funeral Home East.

I’m surprised really, I didn’t think even cancer could overcome Pat’s determination !
We Scouted together in Troop 25 along with several other SFX characters and I can’t think of a harder worker and a great help on the way to Eagle Scout. We played football for the SFX Raiders in 8th grade and if we won 2 games we were lucky but Pat was chosen as the league MVP because of the ferocious way he played the game. He wasn’t a big guy but I watched him dismantle anybody that came over the middle no matter how big they were.
Rest In Peace my friend, we’ll all be along shortly, in the meantime, if you could, put a word or two in there for your old buddies !
Mary Anne Bisbee (Shoebrook) passed away at her home Tuesday, May 16, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Bill; daughters, Amy Morales (Joe) and Grace Bisbee; granddaughter, Susanna; and brother, John Shoebrook (Rosalina). She is preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Peggy Shoebrook and older sister, Connie Gulley. Mary Anne was born in Kansas City on June 4, 1955, and grew up in the Brookside area, attending St. Peter's Grade School, Hogan High School, Northwest Missouri State and graduated Summa Cum Laude, in Mathematics, from Rockhurst University in 1977. She was immediately hired by Hallmark Cards IT department, became a project manager, where she worked for 33 years until she became medically disabled. Mary Anne was vivacious and warm with a wide group of friends. She was a great mom and was devoted to her parents and siblings. She loved to play sports and was an adamant Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks fan, never missing a Royals opening day until this year. Once a year, she and her Hallmark "girlfriends" excitedly ventured to an out-of-town Chiefs game. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Frederick F. Park, Jr., 61, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2016 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS. He was born on December 13, 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Eileen Park and his stepmother Ann Park. He is survived by his 5 siblings, Mike Park, Jim Park, Larry Park (Kelli), Danny Park (Ann), and Colleen Schieber (Doug); numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

It is with love and gratitude that we celebrate the well-lived life of Brian P. Meyers, age 60. This small space cannot possibly capture all of the adventure, hard work, love and good deeds that made his years on earth so extraordinary. Born July 12, 1955, in Kansas City, MO to James and Martha (Arnold) Meyers, Brian was the 3rd born among seven siblings (Jamie, Cynthia, Jeff, Kevin, Rachael and Lee). Brian married the love of his life, Lauri Ann Gash, on May 31, 1980 and a family of their own soon followed. He lives on in the heart of his beloved wife Lauri, children, Sara (Bill Murray), Jennifer (Adam Pontier), Michael (Jane Gregory) and grandchildren, Max, Annabelle, Sullivan, Fletcher, Sadie, Peter and Milo. Brian's love and dedication to his family radiated from him. He expressed his love openly, joyfully and often. Brian's kindness reached well beyond his family and his trademark in life was helping up those who were down. He gave hope to so many with his generous heart. He believed in selflessly giving to others and extending chances without judgement. He leaves behind the legacy of a life guided by the Golden Rule. We will find joy in recalling his laugh. Comfort in remembering his smile. And peace knowing he is watching over us. All of this and so many beautiful memories carry us forward. Mr. cool. What a gentle soul. He was one of the nicest dudes. I loved his voice and the way he talked, just made you feel comfortable to be around. Had not seen much except at reunions. One of the best!
On Saturday, November 7, 2015, Anita V. Koontz, 61, passed away from pulmonary hypertension in her home surrounded by family. Anita was born April 3, 1954, in Kansas City, Kan., to Lorenzo and Naomi Valenciano. She was the youngest of five children. On Nov. 23, 1972, Anita was united in marriage to John (Jack) Koontz. Anita worked for the Social Security Administration for 24 years. She enjoyed keeping up with the KC Royals, KC Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers with her family. She was preceded in death by parents; mother and father-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jack and their two sons, Nick and Lucas, granddaughter, Amber DeLeon and her husband Chris; brother, Carlos Valenciano and his wife Carol; sisters, Theresa Valenciano and Dolores Sandy and her husband Jim and Rita Valenciano; sister-in-law, Nancy; two brothers-in-law, Terry and Wayne and numerous aunts, nephews and nieces.
Terri McCarthy, 60 of Kansas City, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at KC. Hospice. Terri was born Dec. 7, 1954 to John and Virginia Wixom in Kansas City. She was a caregiver for Choices of St. Joseph. In addition to her parents, Terri was preceded in death by her brother, James Wixom.
Her survivors include her husband of 20 years, Gene McCarthy; son, Jim McCarthy; daughter, Shannon McCarthy and Larry Bibb; and granddaughters, Emilee, Madison, Alison and Rhiannon on the way, all of St. Joseph; brother, John Wixom Jr.; sisters, Kathy Marlatt, Linda Mosley, Karen Hartwick and Pam Harden. The family request contributions to her grandchildren’s Educational Fund at UMB in St. Joseph.
Following graduation, Steve studied Communications at Penn Valley Community College. He worked for the University of Kansas Medical Center for 39 years as a Senior Storekeeper. He passed away in June 2014. Steve was a musician and a poet who liked to perform original music as well as cover tunes. His influences were Frank Zappa as well as Bob Cylan, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. He specialized in blues, bluegrass and 60's pop music.
A close friend of Steves shared the following on his Facebook page after his passing. It beautifully speaks to the person Steve was.
My heart is at a loss tonight. There are friends, there are good friends and then there are the friends who can see and feel your soul from the beginning without even a word being said...just as you see and feel theirs. You know and accept each other for exactly who you are. Steve Andrisevic, you were that rare kind of friend and a part of my heart went with you upon your passing into Heaven...and I do know you are there, for God does not overlook someone as kind and special as you...At the same time memories of you will stay in my heart forever...Thank you for our friendship that lasted nearly thirty years. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself; lifting my chin up and helping me to emotionally walk again on my own and most especially thank you for not letting all the ups and downs of life get to you...for keeping your faith to the very end. Your belief in life and music will always be an inspiration in itself. Michael "MIKE" E. Fries, 57, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Sept. 30, 2012.
Mike was born Feb. 16, 1955, in Kansas City, MO, to Dolores M. Fries. He was a graduate of Bishop Hogan High School, class of 1973, and received his Associate of Arts from Penn Valley Community College in 1975. Mike and Diane raised their children in Christ the King Parish. Mike was a devoted husband, father, brother and son and humbly touched the lives of many people. He endlessly contributed to the needs of his community and church. Some of his favorite roles included being a basketball coach for his daughters' teams and being a lifelong supporter of their athletic organizations. Support included time and organization of food donations. He also enjoyed giving his time and effort to the Step-Out Walk for Diabetes for the last 4 years.
Mike was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Pauline Maurer. He is survived by his wife, Diane M. Fries of the home; children, Alicia Fries of the home, April Stautzenberger and husband Ben, Ashley Penland and husband Jed; mother Dolores M. Fries; siblings, John Fries, Paula Ising, Tom Fries, and Steve Fries; mother-in-law, Alice M. Schmidt; brothers and sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. We miss you Dad.
Eileen L. Smith, RN, 56, of Kansas City died Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be 9 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Redemptorist Fathers Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Eileen was born July 18, 1955 in Aurora, IL, to Edward and Mary Jane (Russell) Boyle. She attended Bishop Hogan High School and St. Mary's College, Research College of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She worked 20 years as a pediatric nurse at Children's Mercy Hospital. She was awarded the Bernell Hevner O'Donnell, RN Excellence in Psychosocial Nursing Award. She was preceded in death by her father. Thomas Bott, 55 a longtime resident of South Kansas City, passed away March 27, 2011. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00am, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Inurnment will be at Mt. Thomas was a graduate of Bishop Hogan High School and also graduated from the University of Kansas City Missouri with a Bachelors Degree. Thomas is survived by his parents Joseph and Lorene Bott; sister, Linda Blando and brother, Joseph B. Bott, II.
Michael (Spike) White, 52, of Leawood, Kan., passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007, at his home. Michael was born Feb. 22, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He attended De La Salle High School until its closing and then graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1974. After college he worked in the construction, restoration and insurance industries in his own company as well as other companies for 35 years. Spike was very charismatic and had a great sense of humor. He loved traveling, playing golf and watching sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He remained an optimist to the end, despite overwhelming odds. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James and Halys White; and sister, Marijean White. He is survived by his wife, Annemarie; his children, Tiffany, Ryan, Krystal, Lindsay, Dane, Samantha, Dylan and Bridget; brothers, Jim and wife Rowena White, and Pat and wife Paula White. Michael was extremely close to his nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and was a friend to every person he ever met. Annemarie wishes to give her sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Allen Fleming and the nurses on the 4th floor oncology unit, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Their professionalism and knowledge she expected, but their kindness was an incredible gift.
Judy Marie Scaletty, 50, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away suddenly, August 13, 2005 at St. Joseph Medical Center, from complications of Diabetes. Judy was born July 19, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri and was a life long area resident. Judy was a graduate of Hogan High School and UMKC. She was a member of MENSA and worked for a number of various companies in the Kansas City area, including Hancock Fabrics, the Kansas City Star and several multi media businesses including, Channel 9 and Kemper Arena. Judy is survived by her parents, John and Virginia Scaletty, KCMO; two brothers, Mark Scaletty, Lee's Summit, MO; and Dale (Kim) Scaletty, Blue Springs, MO; four nephews; two nieces; five great nieces and nephews; her loyal friend, Robert Franke, KCMO and her three feline companions, Sisell Rye, Bijou, and Suki.
Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Christ the King Church, 8510 Wornall Road, KCMO. Inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Christ the King Church "Building Fund" or to the American Diabetes Association.
Carol Martha Mary (Tilton) Derringer, 47, died September 8, 2002, at Villa St. Francis. Mass of Christian burial was on Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at Christ the King Church. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mike was the first real musician I ever met. What a talent. I remember a retreat that we had at the convent next door to Hogan. I think it was freshman or sophomore year. We were supposed to be reflecting on life. Mike happened to find a piano, where he sat down and banged out the most remarkable solo piano version of "Classical Gas" you could imagine. I will never forget that, ever. His musical career was cut way too short. We buried Mike in a ceremony at a cemetery out south of Martin City. Mike was the first really close friend I lost. He was brilliant and talented; super smart. Gone way too early. I can still see him banging out Classical Gas.

I remember Mike Greene as a very smart and witty guy. He was amazingly talented and had a wicked sense of humor. He was musically gifted, could play several instruments and even built a harpsichord. He had an ornery streak, but was a really nice guy. He had the bravado to smoke weed in the bathrooms at Hogan and also flushed an M-80 down a toilet (sorry Mike, busted!). He must have had a great memory to go along with his intelligence, because he always seemed to do very well on exams, but like the rest of us didn't study much. Sister Ann Margaret used to call me Mr. LaSage. One day in the lunchroom, Mike gave me the nickname Jesse LeSage. I still go by Jesse to this day by some of my friends. After high school he moved to Texas (Austin I believe) where he was playing fiddle in a band. He died in a car accident there and is buried in the Cleveland Mo cemetery. Mike was way more cool then most of us. Stay cool buddy.
Charlie Dawg. I wish I knew what happened to you. The last time I saw him, was when we both were driving taxi cabs, when I was going to school. Then, years later, I saw a small story in the news paper, that his family was looking for him. He was one of my best friends. Even though the official school class list, had thier own list, Charlie Shmid was funnniest guy in our class, and everyone knows it. He was kind to everyone, and he drove the teachers nuts. Does anyone know what happened to him?

Charlie was definitely one of our coolest classmates. Best I could tell, he was good to everyone he met. I learned of Charlie's passing several years later and have always felt bad that I couldn't have been at a service to share stories about Charlie and what he meant to us. You're right Rich, Charlie was definitely a funny guy, and a pleasure to have known. I miss him.
The memories I have of my friend, our classmate, Gil Ornelas are filled with his laughter, and most especially his smile.
From the very first day I met him at Our Lady of Good Council he somehow picked up on my being apprehensive. You see I didn’t enroll there till our 5th grade year. Gil’s kindness made me feel like I had been there since kindergarten. Our friendship grew and continued throughout our years at Bishop Hogan. He had a way of making me and others laugh during lunch with his stories about the infamous sophomore dissecting frog day.Personally I just wanted his secret ability to not get on Sister Mary Margaret’s last nerve,but he’d just shrug his shoulders as if he didn’t have a clue. I overheard her telling him once he was the kind of student that she could count on. On the other hand she turned and announced to the others that her rosaries were getting worn thin because of our shenanigans.
After we graduated Gil and I continued our friendship. He was my confident and we supported one another with encouragement when needed. Sometimes he just showed up at my door with a chocolate cake and I always asked him how did you know? He would just shrug those shoulders as if he didn’t have a clue.
One afternoon I received a call from Gil we talked for a very long time but as it sorrowfully turned out it was to be the last time I would hear my dear friends voice.
I will always think of him and smile.
We do not know why God puts certain people on our life path with us. Sometimes they walk with us for a moment, and sometimes that moment lasts a lifetime. Gil’s moment will last for me a ...lifetime.
When others ask me why people have to leave us so soon. I just shrug my shoulders, smile the way I remember Gil’s smile and simply, lovingly reply.. I don’t have a clue.
